Cosmetic Dentistry in West MallingIn West Malling, cosmetic dentistry comes in many different forms to treat many different dental issues. The most popular cosmetic treatment in the UK is teeth whitening. This is because teeth whitening can give you a quick, cost-effective boost to the appearance of your teeth.

Zoom whitening: a quick boost

We offer Zoom! whitening here at One Smile Oral Care. This is a very popular treatment up and down the UK. This type of whitening is carried out in-clinic and gets fast results.

This method of whitening can bring your teeth an average of eight shades lighter in little over an hour. All of this whitening is done whilst you relax in our dentist’s chair.

During the appointment, your gums and tongue will be protected with plastic barriers, and the whitening gel applied to your teeth. The main ingredient in the whitening gel is hydrogen peroxide. The gel is then activated by the UV light from a special lamp placed beside you. The hydrogen peroxide gel lifts stains out of your teeth enamel, but doesn’t affect the structure of your teeth.

We can also give you take-home kits of a weaker gel and custom-made tooth trays, which will take about two weeks to get the same results.

Why does discolouration happen?

Patients won’t always have to turn to their cosmetic dentist in West Malling. When they do they often wonder why discolouration happens in the first place.

Many patients are actually genetically predisposed to tooth discolouration and things like smoking, eating certain foods and drinking dark drinks like red wine, tea and coffee can affect the colour of your teeth. To avoid discolouration try cutting down on these foods, or try to quit smoking.
