We offer three main treatments within cosmetic dentistry in West Malling: veneers, teeth whitening and gum surgery.
Veneers
These are thin, porcelain sheaths that are placed over the tooth, much like false nails. If one or more of your teeth are cracked, stained in a way that can’t be removed by whitening, gappy or slightly misaligned, veneers can give them a uniform appearance again.
To fit the veneers, our cosmetic dentist will shave a little off the front of your tooth. This is to create a rough surface that the veneer will stick to. The veneer is then placed and no one will know it’s not a natural tooth. Your veneers will be custom-made to blend in with the natural shade of the surrounding teeth.
Teeth whitening
For West Malling cosmetic dentistry teeth whitening, we use the in-clinic Zoom! whitening system. It may be tempting to buy a cheap, over-the-counter whitening kit, but as it won’t be custom-made, there is a risk that the whitening gel may leak out onto your gums. Here, we will take an impression of your gums and make whitening trays that are uniquely fitted to your mouth.
The whitening itself takes about an hour to work. We’ll apply the gel and also use a UV light to strengthen the effect. Your teeth can be up to eight shades whiter within 60 minutes! You can also do a follow-up treatment at home with our take-home bleaching kit.
Tooth whitening is suitable for removing stains caused by food and drinks such as soda, tea, coffee and red wine. It can help stains caused by certain medications, fluoride and tobacco.
Gum surgery
Your teeth may look short but it could be that there is too much gum showing. We can correct this using the laser technology to reshape the gum.
